Arthur Pendleton Bagby (1794September 21, 1858) was the Democratic Governor of the U.S. state of Alabama from 1837 to 1841. He served in the U.S. Senate from November 21, 1841 to June 16, 1848, when he resigned to become Minister to Russia from 1848 to 1849.

Arthur Pendleton Bagby was born in 1794 in Louisa County, Virginia.
Bagby was elected to represent Monroe County in the state legislature in 1821 and continued to serve in one house or the other, until 1837 when he was elected governor.
Although Bagby tried to introduce various measures to stabilize the deteriorating financial condition of the state banks, most of his ideas were rejected by the state legislature.
