Arthur Schwartz (November 25, 1900 - September 3, 1984) was an Jewish-American composer of popular music. Schwartz supported legal studies at New York University and postgraduate studies at Columbia University by playing piano before seeing the error of his ways and concentrating his talents on Vaudeville, Broadway and Hollywood. ArthurSchwartz of the John Templeton Foundation will speak about character education in public schools on Feb. 1 as part of Wake Forest University's 2000-2001 Year of Ethics and Honor event series.
Schwartz is a former professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
