Artsvashen (also known as Artzvashen or Bashkend) is an exclave of Armenia's Gegharkunik province. It is completely surrounded by Azerbaijan and has been controlled by it since the Nagorno-Karabakh War. The village was once linked geographically to Armenia, but this corridor was transferred to Azerbaijan in 1931 by the Soviet Union as part of a series of border adjustments in the South Caucasus. [1] Today, the village is mostly inhabited by Azeris due to a forceful population exchange between Armenia and Azerbaijan during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. It has been renamed Bashkend by the Azerbaijani government. This article or section is missing references or citation of sources. ...
