The ordinance bill was compiled to mark the centenary of a prefectural notification issued on Feb. 22, 1905, to incorporate Takeshima as part of the prefecture.
Last October and December, Shimane Governor Nobuyoshi Sumita visited the Foreign Ministry in Tokyo to stress the prefecture's desire to commemorate Takeshima's inclusion into Japanese territory.
