History of ABC

On March 15, 1951, Asahi Broadcasting Corporation was founded. ABC started a radio broadcasting on November 11. On May 25, 1955, ABC founded Osaka Television Company (大阪テレビ放送株式会社) with New Japan Broadcasting System, Incorporated (Present: Mainichi Broadcasting System, Incorporated). On December 1, 1956, Osaka TV started a TV broadcasting (OTV, Channel 6, callsign: JOBX-TV). On March 1, 1959, the name of the TV station was renamed "ABC Osaka TV" (ABC-OTV, 朝日放送大阪テレビ). On June 1, ABC became a TV and radio broadcasting station. It was a network TV station of Japan News Network (JNN). On May 2, 1965, ABC joined a radio network called "Japan Radio Network" (JRN) and joined a radio network called "National Radio Network" (NRN) the next day. On March 31, 1975, ABC changed to the TV news network called All-Nippon News Network (ANN). Three years later, the frequency of ABC AM radio changed from 1010 kHz to 1008 kHz.
