History of ABC On March 15, 1951, Asahi Broadcasting Corporation was founded. ABC started a radio broadcasting on November 11. On May 25, 1955, ABC founded Osaka Television Company (大阪テレビ放送株式会社) with New Japan Broadcasting System, Incorporated (Present: Mainichi Broadcasting System, Incorporated). On December 1, 1956, Osaka TV started a TV broadcasting (OTV, Channel 6, callsign: JOBX-TV). On March 1, 1959, the name of the TV station was renamed "ABC Osaka TV" (ABC-OTV, 朝日放送大阪テレビ). On June 1, ABC became a TV and radio broadcasting station. It was a network TV station of Japan News Network (JNN). On May 2, 1965, ABC joined a radio network called "Japan Radio Network" (JRN) and joined a radio network called "National Radio Network" (NRN) the next day. On March 31, 1975, ABC changed to the TV news network called All-Nippon News Network (ANN). Three years later, the frequency of ABC AM radio changed from 1010 kHz to 1008 kHz. On March 23, 2001, ABC acquired ISO 14001 for Japanese broadcasting station's first time. Now, the headquaters of ABC is planned to move from Oyodo-minami, Kita-ku to Fukushima, Fukushima-ku in 2008.
