Asai Nagamasa in Popular Culture

  • Nagamasa makes appearances as a general in the Main Campaign and in various Historical Battles and Historical Campaigns in the PC game Shogun Total War (by Creative Assembly). (Shogun was re-released June 2006)
  • Nagamasa returns as an Heir to the Asai Clan in the fan created Samurai Warlords Mod (aka the Shogun Mod) for Creative Assembly's PC game Medieval Total War. (Medieval was re-released June 2006)
  • Nagamasa is an NPC in Sengoku Musou, but makes a playable debut in the sequel, Sengoku Musou 2. He wields an European-style lance. His voice actor is Hiroshi Kamiya, and in the Japanese version of Kessen III (in which Nagamasa also appears), he is also voiced by the same voice actor, much like Hikaru Midorikawa as Akechi Mitsuhide in both games. In the latter his story depicts him torn between duty, (as he was actually allied to both the Asakura and the Oda), honor, and love (of Oichi). In gameplay he is a particularly effective character due to his Normal moveset (allowing him a long string of attacks), one of his special abilities (the Wind element or that of his weapon applies to all attacks for a limited duration), and his Musou attack (where he repeatedly stabs ahead of him, though the direction thereof can be controlled; at level 3, the shockwaves would knock his opponent away but in a corner they bounce back into the attack, and in the Japanese version a glitch causes the level 3 effect to "reset," whenever he's moved, allowing far-higher combos).
  • Nagamasa is slated as an NPC in the upcoming Sengoku Basara 2, along with Oichi. He wields a long sword. His voice actor there is Tsujitani Kouji. He is portrayed as a justice loving man, much in vein of Ma Chao in Dynasty Warriors.

Oichi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (529 words)
Following Nobunaga's conquest of Mino in 1567, in an effort to cement an alliance between Nobunaga and rival warlord Asai Nagamasa, Nobunaga devised for Oichi to marry Nagamasa.
This marriage was as doomed as Oichi's first one, and in 1570 Nagamasa broke his alliance with Nobunaga and sided with the Asakura Family.
Eventually Nagamasa was surrounded at Odani but before the attack on his castle commenced, Nobunaga called for the return of his sister.
