Aschehoug is the danish part of Egmont Books with a mission to develop, refine and publish literary fiction and non-fiction that entertain, inform and enrich readers.
Aschehoug is Denmark’s second largest publisher with an revenue of approximately EUR 55 million (2003) and with a strong schoolbook publisher, Alinea, as part of the publishing house.
Educational books Withs its schoolbook publisher Alinea and Forlag Malling Beck, Ashcheoug command a strong position in the market for educational materials for Danish elementary and lower secondary schools.
Aschehoug and Co. (W. Nygaard) A/S, oftest kalt Aschehoug forlag eller bare Aschehoug, er et ledende norsk bokforlag.
Forlaget ble stiftet i 1872 av Hieronymus Aschehoug (født 1846) sammen med Halvard Aschehoug (født 1851), sønnen til fetteren hans, professoren og stortingsmannen Torkel Halvorsen Aschehoug.
Aschehoug og Gyldendal opprettet også ekspedisjonssentralen Forlagsentralen i 1964 og Kunnskapsforlaget ANS i 1975.
