History
Ash is the leader of the New Hero Team (composed also by Duo Lon and Shen Woo). Together, they made their first appearance in The King of Fighters 2003. His motives for entering are to take the powers of the descendants of the clans who sealed Orochi away, 1,800 years ago (Kyo Kusanagi, Iori Yagami and Chizuru Kagura). At this time, he succeeds in stealing Chizuru's power. Duo Lon is a video game character in the King of Fighters series. ...

In The King of Fighters XI, he teams up with Oswald and again Shen Woo. After defeating Magaki, Ash leaves Shen Woo and Oswald to fight each other at the end of the tournament. The true purpose was to steal Iori's powers, and succeeded when Iori was going under the riot of the blood. As the Rival team reached the scene, Ash vows that Kyo Kusanagi will be the next target, and vanishes in front of Elisabeth, Duo Lon and Benimaru. The King of Fighters XI (KOF XI) is the latest installment of the King of Fighters series. ...

Personality Ash is very cunning as well as sarcastic. Other than his well-planned tactics in stealing the powers of The Three Sacred Treasures, he has also made some other trickery, such as 'accidentally' causing his team mates, Oswald and Shen (who don't know if Ash had planned something on them), to fight each other because Oswald wants to find drug dealers while Shen Woo wanted a good fight with a strong opponent. He then tells Oswald the whereabouts of the drug dealers and simply tells Shen Woo to fight Oswald. Plus, his talking style easily upset so many people, including Elisabeth, his former companion. The term narcotic, derived from the Greek word for stupor, originally referred to a variety of substances that induced sleep (such state is narcosis). ...
Elisabeth Blanctorche (IPA pronunciation ), speaks French as her native language, and is one of three original characters debuting in the fighting game The King of Fighters XI, belongs to the Rival Team along with Benimaru and Duo Lon. ...
Ash may seem like a frail individual, but he is extremely powerful. He was able to defeat Iori easily even in his blood riot form. This also shows he is far more powerful than Kyo. He could have taken Kyo's powers at any time, but is currently toying with the Kusanagi heir.
Gameplay - Ash's LDM finisher, Germinal, in KoF XI looks similar to K's Heat Drive. It also possesses the same "sealing" ability (opponent will be unable to use special/super moves for awhile after getting hit) of one of the moves Chizuru Kagura could use, showing that he has indeed gotten the first of the 3 sacred treasures (the Yata mirror).
- Ash is interesting in that, even though he's the protagonist of the latest KOF saga, he is a "charging" character, i.e. his moves are done by charging on one direction before executing (like Guile and Remy from Street Fighter). Universally, main characters in 2D fighting games have been "command" characters, i.e. their moves are instantly executed.

Trivia - Ash's connections to even his own team mates (Duo Lon, Shen Woo, Oswald) has never been fully established beyond "acquaintances".
- His moves are almost all named after months of the French Republican Calendar, except for his LDM Sans-culottes — all of them including Sans-culottes refer to the French Revolution.
- When Ash first appeared in King of Fighters 2003, his movelist only listed 9 of the 12 months, missing Germinal, Frimaire and Fructidor. But in King of Fighters XI, after he took Chizuru's power in King of Fighters 2003, he got Germinal in his arsenal. With KoF XI showing that he succeeded in taking Iori's power, it is not illogical to think that he will take Kyo's next time, completing the 12 names of months. (He has stated that he will soon go after Kyo as well.)
- Despite his team being known as "The New Hero Team" in King Of Fighters 2003, Ash doesn't exactly have good intentions (it's not clear what he is, anti-hero or a villain).
- In the rival team ending in King of Fighters XI, he is shown to have past acquaintances with Elisabeth Blanctorche. Elisabeth states that both Ash Crimson and she have a mission to confront "them". However Ash Crimson apparently has no interest in finishing this mission, much to her chagrin.
- It's also notable that because of some traits in Ash's behavior/appearance (for example; touching his hair constantly, using a woman's bandanna, painting his nails, the orientation of his pelvis, and the way he walks forward when fighting) a lot of discussion has been generated among the fans about Ash's sexuality. This claim is typically argued by fans of the game.
- In KoF 2003, if Maki defeats Ash, her winquote says that Ash does not cast a reflection in her mirror. This may mean that Ash has somehow become soulless (various people's folklore suggest that the mirror shows not the person, but his/her soul), or is masking his soul so that his true nature, or even identity, cannot be seen by others.
- Ash appears as a cameo in two of the stages of KOF: Maximum Impact 2, the Tower Festival (Evening) and NeoGeo Land (an unlockable stage - Evening) seen playing a KOF NeoWave arcade machine. Kula Diamond also has an outfit that resembles Ash (complete with white hair and freckles).
- Recently, SNK Playmore announced in the Tokyo Gaming Show an update for KOF: Maximum Impact 2 entitled KOF: Maximum Impact Regulation: A. Ash is one of the new characters added for it.
- Usually the main characters in the King of Fighters series are always the winners of all tournaments in that saga. Canonically, The Japan Team won 94-97, and K's Team won 99-2001. But strangely, even though Ash is the new protagonist, the winner team in KOF 2003 wasn't the New Heroes Team (Ash, Duolon, Shen). It was the 3 Sacred Treasures Team (Kyo, Iori and Chizuru) or the K' Team (K',Maxima, Whip). Also, his team did not likely win KOF XI either; Iori's descent into the Riot of the Blood in the Kusanagi and Yagami team (Kyo, Iori, Shingo) ending strongly indicates that the three of them came into at least some contact with Magaki, placing their team as the most likely to have been the KOF victors, as they are the only ones with an ending that depends on their having fought Magaki. Besides, in the Rival Team (Elisabeth, Duo Lon, Benimaru) , Ash calls them (the rival team) the "champion team".
- When the Ralf Jones Defeats Ash, the ending quote claims something about Ash. It is possible that he is inhuman
