Ash Fork is a census-designated place located in Yavapai County, Arizona. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 457.


Geography

Ash Fork is located at 35°13'16" North, 112°29'14" West (35.221236, _112.487100)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 6.0 km˛ (2.3 mi˛). 6.0 km˛ (2.3 mi˛) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 457 people, 149 households, and 109 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 76.7/km˛ (199.1/mi˛). There are 189 housing units at an average density of 31.7/km˛ (82.3/mi˛). The racial makeup of the CDP is 96.28% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 1.31% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.53% from other races, and 0.88% from two or more races. 51.42% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 149 households out of which 35.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.4% are married couples living together, 6.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.2% are non-families. 22.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.07 and the average family size is 3.45.


In the CDP the population is spread out with 28.7% under the age of 18, 13.6% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 21.4% from 45 to 64, and 11.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 161.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 143.3 males.


The median income for a household in the CDP is $30,893, and the median income for a family is $36,875. Males have a median income of $23,854 versus $21,094 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $11,802. 20.4% of the population and 16.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 27.1% of those under the age of 18 and 18.4% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
