Ashford & Simpson left Motown in the early-1970s, and, after getting married, went on to become an independent writing/production team. They have also released albums and singles of their own, including the 1984 hit "Solid".

Most recently, Ashford & Simpson went to work as celebrity DJ's on Kiss-FM in New York (along with Isaac Hayes), released a 1996 album with Maya Angelou on their own label, and are preparing a Valerie Simpson solo disc due in 2000.
Ashford & Simpson's own site is breezy and chatty, much more like a personal home page than a corporate site, though you have to hunt for the discographic information.
