The UKIP removed the whip from Ashley Mote on 15 July 2004 after learning that he faces trial over allegations of housing benefit fraud. Ironically since the news of his fraud charges were published he has called himself "(someone) who has researched EU fraud for many years"[2]. He is of course a members of the European Parliament.
