ASHWELL Prince may not have enthralled the restless SCG crowd yesterday with dazzling strokeplay, but he went a long way towards achieving one thing that has always been important to him - to prove himself as a legitimate Test batsman.
Prince has a history of confronting the most awkward situations head-on, and has continued to do so as he fought for his cricketing life these past few weeks in Australia.
Perhaps Prince took heart from the fact two of his lbw dismissals by Warne were dubious, and that he had been wronged in Melbourne, but yesterday he was as stubborn as ever and played his best strokes early in his innings square of the wicket.
