Titis are not very large, normally being 30 to 42 cm long in head and body with a tail length of 33 to 51cm; and they weigh about 600 grams.
Titis have been compared most closely to the Douroucouli, but the characteristics it shares with this monkey are, like those it shares with Marmosets, due to primitive characters surviving in both of them.
Black-fronted Titi Monkeys: (Callicebus personatus nigrifrons) This subspecies is found in southeastern Brazil, in the states of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo from the Rio Tiete north, and from southern Minas Berais between the Rios Parana-paraiba, the headwaters of the Rio Sao Francisco, and the Rio Jequitinhonha.
