The Association des Scouts et Guides de Mauritanie, the national Scouting organization of Mauritania, was founded in 1946, and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1983 and is also an associate member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. The coeducational Association des Scouts et Guides de Mauritanie has about 4,200 members (3,724 Scouts and 456 Guides) as of 2004. It has been suggested that Section (Scouting) be merged into this article or section. ... The World Organization of the Scout Movement is the supranational organization which governs most national Scouting movements. ... The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts is a global association supporting the female oriented and female only scouting organizations in 144 countries. ...


The Scout Motto is "Kun Musta'idan", translating as "Be Prepared" in Arabic. The noun for a single Scout is Kashaf in Arabic.
