Today, the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA) issued a response to the report of the Astronomy and Astrophysics Survey Committee entitled Astronomy and Astrophysics in the New Millennium commissioned by the National Academy of Sciences.
AURA strongly endorses the recommendations of the Decadal Survey related to AURA-operated facilities and notes that several of the recommended changes are already in progress.
AURA operates the National Optical Astronomy Observatory, the National Solar Observatory, and the international Gemini Observatory under cooperative agreement with the National Science Foundation; for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, AURA operates the Space Telescope Science Institute.
