Mary Parent, the principal of Assumption

Assumption was founded by the Basilian Fathers in 1870 as part of Assumption University, which is now part of the University of Windsor. Assumption was at first a private school for young men, but evolved into a co-educational secondary school within the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board. Assumption offers a range of secondary programs including the IB Diploma Programme , as well as Co-op, OYAP, MOYAP and others. The school has a population of approximately 650 students. Mme Cano is the IB coordinator

The IB programme has been quite successful and Mme. G. Cano is the director of the programme. The programme has attracted over 130 students over a period of 3 years. Assumption is the only IB public school in Windsor. The only other IB school is Acadamie St Cecile, which is a private school. Villanova High attempted to get an IB certificate, but have to yet to receive one. The year of 2006-2007 will be the first year that this programme is in effect at Assumption.
