AstroPlay is an artificial turf surface made to resemble natural grass, similar to FieldTurf, developed by the company that invented AstroTurf. Trucks began arriving Nov. 29, carrying the AstroPlay surface from the SRI plant in Dalton, Ga. Laying the 28 15-ft. wide rolls of turf was completed in five days, covering a total area spanning 208 feet by 408 feet, (84,864 square feet).
AstroPlay was installed this year at Ralph Wilson Stadium, home of the National Football League's Buffalo Bills.
AstroPlay was also installed on Tulane's football practice field during the summer of 2001.
