Atarot Airport (IATA: JRS, ICAO: LLJR) officially known Jerusalem International Airport and also Qalandiya Airport, is a domestic-only airport in northern Jerusalem along the road to Ramallah. It is named by Israelis after Atarot, the area of Jerusalem it is located in, in the most northern section of the city. The airport lies in areas annexed by the Government of Israel after the capture of East Jerusalem in 1967. Prior to that, it was an international civilian airport run by Jordanian authorities and used by Palestinians. The airport is no longer operational since the start of the Al-Aqsa Intifada. It has been under the control of Israeli Defence Force since 2001.
