Atmautluak is a census-designated place located in Bethel Census Area, Alaska. As of the 2000 census, the population of the CDP is 294.

Geography

Atmautluak is located at 60°51'35" North, 162°16'39" West (60.859675, _162.277616)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 8.7 km² (3.3 mi²). 1.7 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is land and 7.0 km² (2.7 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 81.19% water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 294 people, 60 households, and 54 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 177.4/km² (462.0/mi²). There are 64 housing units at an average density of 38.6/km² (100.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 4.08% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 94.56% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.36% from two or more races. 1.02% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 60 households out of which 58.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.7% are married couples living together, 11.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 10.0% are non-families. 8.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 1.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 4.90 and the average family size is 5.22.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 33.3% under the age of 18, 18.4% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 17.7% from 45 to 64, and 5.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 24 years. For every 100 females there are 102.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 120.2 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP is $37,917, and the median income for a family is $39,583. Males have a median income of $20,625 versus $8,750 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $8,501. 30.3% of the population and 31.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 44.0% of those under the age of 18 and 15.4% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
