Auburndale is one of the 13 villages of Newton, Massachusetts. It lies at the western end of Newton near the intersection of interstate highways 90 and 95, and is bisected by the Massachusetts Turnpike. Auburndale is surrounded by three other Newton villages (West Newton, Waban, and Newton Lower Falls) as well as the towns of Waltham and Weston. Auburndale is the home of Williams and Burr elementary schools and many families live in the area. Auburndale Square is the location of the Auburndale branch of the Newton Free Library, the Turtle Lane Playhouse, and many small businesses. Auburndale was the home of Norumbega Park. The park included rides, a zoo, boating and the nationally-famous Totem Pole Ballroom.

Many famous people have come from Auburndale, notably, the Wilson family's 7 children. Charlton G. Wilson, CHt., CCHt. nee October 19, 1965, a graduate of the Juilliard School of Music is an internationally reputed psychotherapist and hypnotherapist. Brother Evan Wilson, also a Juilliard attendee, was principal violist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic for over 10 seasons until his early retirement from that organization. Also are brothers Gabriel and Jeffrey, both MD's of note, Sisters Rebecca Dru, well known pop-singer in Los Angeles, Elizabeth a well known free-lance violinist and violist in Los Angeles.
