History

The company was founded by Paul Thompson, and when commercial FM broadcasting was introduced into Australia it acquired the license for the metropolitan Adelaide area; SAFM commenced transmission in late 1980. The next station to join the network was FOX FM in Melbourne in 1986, eventually to be followed by Sydney's 2Day FM and Brisbane's B105. Austereo Radio Network's radio stations have been criticized for being left winged as supposed to Australia's newspapers The Advertiser which is criticized for being right-wing.
The radio network has also been criticized, for their pro-gay views with their leading radio station 2DayFM being nicknamed Too Gay FM by radio jocks from their fierce competitor: Nova, owned by DMG Radio Australia, which is considered right-wing.
B105 FM - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (943 words)
In 1987, the Austereo group purchased the station, whose ratings had been poor, intending to use it as a vehicle to bid for an FM conversion licence.
Subsequently, Austereo won the licence, and in February 1990, the station changed its callsign to 4BBB (not used on-air, unlike the previous AM callsign) and commenced broadcasting on a frequency of 105.3 MHz with the name B105.
This bald headed chappy is a newcomer to aussie radio but has a lot of experience for his short tenure, having anchored Austereo's short lived drive program The Arvo with Judith Lucy, and producing the radio version of Rove McManus' TV show, Saturday Morning Rove.
