ARG Locomotive Classification

With the introduction of the ARG name and corporate colours, ARG began a gradual process of standardising the locomotive classification based on horsepower, with a progressive (and still incomplete) renumbering as follows:


Note: As of Feburary 2006 new letter classes will be used in conjunction with the new horsepower based numbering system (The Z on the end of some class letters refers to locomotives fitted with ZTR) .

Redundancy occurs when ARGE decides that it no longer wishes the job the employee has been doing to be done by anyone and this is not due to the ordinary and customary turnover of labour.
ARGE may at ARGE's option, make payment in lieu thereof of an amount equal to the difference between the former ordinary rate of pay and the new ordinary time rate for the number of weeks of notice still owing.
Provided that by agreement between ARGE and the majority of employees at a particular workplace or the individual concerned the duration of shifts may be extended to 12 hours.
