Encyclopedia > Australian states table generator

Updated 1192 days 14 hours 3 minutes ago.

This is the Perl script used to generate the tables for the 8 Australian States and Territories.

#!/usr/bin/perl # Table generator for Australian states # Licensed under GFDL, submitted to Wikipedia. # # This is a Perl script. To run it on a Windows platform, you need # to download a Windows Perl distribution such as ActivePerl # http://www.ActiveState.com/ActivePerl # # Usage: perl whatever_filename_you_gave_this_script.pl "Full name of state" # # e.g. perl gen.pl "Australian Capital Territory" # # Wikitext will appear on standard output, and unless you comment out the relevant # lines, it will be copied to the Windows clipboard also. # # This script consists of three sections: wikitext with substitution tags, a CSV # spreadsheet, and the Perl code to perform the substitution and output the result. # The CSV section can be edited with any spreadsheet application. use Text::ParseWords; # Optional clipboard dump: use Win32::Clipboard; #------------------------------------------------------------------------- $wikitext = <<'END OF WIKITEXT'; <table border="1" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0" align="right" width="300px"> <caption><font size="+1"> <<Name>> </font></caption><tr><td style="background:#efefef;" align="center" colspan=2> <table border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="0"> <tr><td align="center" width="140px"> </td><td align="center" width="140px"> </td></tr><tr><td align="center" width="140px"><font size=-1> State flag (Full size) </font></td><td align="center" width="140px"> <font size=-1>Coat of Arms (Full size)</font> </td></tr></table></td></tr><tr><td align="center" colspan=2> </td></tr><tr><td> Capital </td><td> <<Capital>> </td></tr><tr><td> Area<br> — Land <br> — Marine <br> — Total </td><td> <br> <<Land area>> km²<br> <<Marine area>> km² <br> <<Total area>> km² <br> </td></tr><tr><td> Population (2002)<br> Density </td><td> <<Population>><br> <<Density>>/km² </td></tr><tr><td> Time zone </td><td> <<Time zone>> </td></tr><tr><td> Highest point </td><td> <<Mountain>> (<<Height>> m) </td></tr><tr><td> ISO 3166-2 code: </td><td> <<ISO 3166-2>> </td></tr></table> END OF WIKITEXT #------------------------------------------------------------------------- $csv = <<'END OF CSV SPREADSHEET'; Homopolar generator - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (1407 words)
A homopolar generator, also known as a unipolar generator, acyclic generator, or disk dynamo, is a DC electrical generator in which the magnetic field has the same polarity at every point, so that the armature passes through the magnetic field lines of force continually in the same direction.
One of the larger homopolar generators that was produced by Parker Kinetic Designs via the collaboration of Richard Marshall, William Weldon, and Herb Woodson.

Nuclear power - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (9482 words)
A general movement against nuclear power arose during the last third of the 20th Century, based on the fear of a possible nuclear accident and on fears of latent radiation, and on the opposition to nuclear waste production, transport and final storage.
In 2006 in the United States, there were 104 (69 pressurized water reactors and 35 boiling water reactors) commercial nuclear generating units licensed to operate, producing a total of 101,289 megawatts (electric), which is approximately 20 percent of the nation's total electric energy consumption.
A number of other designs for nuclear power generation, the Generation IV reactors, are the subject of active research and may be used for practical power generation in the future.
