"Autumn Leaves" is a much-recorded popular song. Originally a 1945 French song "Les feuilles mortes" (literally "The Dead Leaves") with music by Joseph Kosma and lyrics by poet Jacques Prévert, English lyrics were written in 1949 by the American songwriter Johnny Mercer.[1] It has become a pop standard and a jazz standard in both languages, and as an instrumental. Autumn Nails is a song which I know very little about.
One of the synchronicities I mentioned is the fact that, when I still was laboring under the illusion that it was a modern song, we went on tour, and at a friend's house in seattle the sheet music for it was sitting on the piano.
