Avalon is a locality in the State of Australia. It is located to the north of the city of Geelong, and to the southwest of the state's capital city of Melbourne; and is on the western shore of Port Phillip.


Avalon is notable for the Avalon Airport, which is the new home base of the budget domestic airline Jetstar Airways.

The land on which Avalon Airport lies is part of the Lara Lea escarpment which is bound by the You Yang Ranges, Corio Bay and Melbourne Water sewage treatment agistment paddocks.
