The district includes all of the Avalon Peninsula, except for Bell Island, and the St. John's area. The Commission named this electoral district St. John’s South because it is that part of the City of St. John’s to the south of the district of St. John’s North, and includes the City of Mount Pearl and the Town of Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove.
This electoral district is bounded on the east by the waters of Trinity Bay and includes the Bonavista Peninsula, north of George’s Brook, which is part of the present electoral district of Bonavista–Trinity–Conception.
