Avelgem is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Avelgem proper, Bossuit, Kerkhove, Outrijve and Waarmaarde. On January 1st, 2004 Avelgem had a total population of 9,261 (4,559 males and 4,702 females). The total area is 21.75 population density of 425.83 inhabitants per kmē.
