Aventura Mall, is a large enclosed shopping mall located in Aventura, Florida, a suburb of Miami. It is the largest conventional shopping mall in Florida, having more than 2.3 million ft² (210,000 m²) of retail selling space, three floors, and over 250 shops. In 2007 the former Lord & Taylor location will be converted to mall space and a new Nordstrom will be constructed. With this Aventura will become the fifth largest shopping center in the US. Nordstrom could open store in Aventura Mall (471 words)
Aventura is curtailing construction with a building moratorium, but officials are leaving the door open for national retailer Nordstrom to renovate and move into the city's namesake mall.
The mall was granted an exemption, Commissioner Bob Diamond said, because Turnberry Associates, owner of Aventura Mall, hopes to fill the space vacated by Lord & Taylor with another upscale retailer.
Garayzar said mall officials are negotiating with the retailer.
