vila is a province of western Spain, in the southern part of the autonomous community of Castile-Leon. It is bordered by the provinces of Toledo, C ceres, Salamanca, Valladolid, Segovia, and Madrid.

vila has a population of 165,138 (2002). Its capital is vila.

AVILA, a province of central Spain, one of the modern divisions of the kingdom of Old Castile; bounded on the N. by Valladolid, E. by Segovia and Madrid, S. by Toledo and Cficeres, and W. by Salamanca.
The ancient walls of Avila, constructed of brown granite, and surmounted by a breastwork, with eighty-six towers and nine gateways, are still in excellent repair; but a large part of the city lies beyond their circuit.
Avila also possesses an old Moorish castle (aicdzar) used as barracks, a foundling hospital, infirmary, military academy, and training schools for teachers of both sexes.

Ciego de Ávila is one of the provinces of Cuba, and was previously part of Camagüey Province.
Central Ciego de Ávila is used for cattle ranching, elsewhere in the province sugar, pineapples and citrus fruit are grown.
The province was separated from Camagüey Province in 1975 by Fidel Castro's government.
