The airline started operations on 7 September 2005[1] with a single Boeing 737-500 aircraft. Avolar is widely considered the first low-cost airline in Mexico. Since then, other low-cost airlines such as Click Mexicana, Interjet, and Volaris have surpassed Avolar in terms of growth.
