National Awami Party, was founded in Dhaka,Bangladesh in July 1957. The president was Maulana Bhashani and the general secretary Mahmudul Huq Osmani. In 1967 NAP split mainly into National Awami Party (Bhashani) and National Awami Party (Wali) and Some smaller factions such as Mazdoor Kissan Party. In 1977 NAP was banned in Pakistan by the government of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to pressure the then national opposition leader, Khan Wali Khan.
