Axedale Golf Club (492 words)
Although there are some references of golf being played in the Axedale district as early as the 1890's, golf was first played on the site of the current course, The Axedale Racecourse and Recreational Reserve, in 1937 when 8 founding members formed the Axedale Golf Club.
The club was reformed in 1973 by a band of enthusiastic locals who met in the Axedale Public Hall.
Today the Axedale Golf Club boasts a membership of over 450 players and is one of the best courses in the Bendigo District - arguably Central Victoria's best-kept secret.
