Seiryuu; also spelled Seiryû; is the ruler of the eastern group of constellations in ancient Chinese astrology, and the gaurdian god of the Eastern world. In old Japan, as well as in China, groups of people worshipped the four cardinal gods, and build temples and monuments in their honor. Today, people still regard the gods with some reverance, and in many of the royal palaces and important places in Japan and China, The Heian Shrine in Kyoto; for example, paintings and frescoes feature liknesses of the four. The most famous of these places is the Takamatsuzuka Tomb in Nara.
