Format
On weekdays, the station kicks off at 5am with Gilly Hope. From 6.30am - 10am, there is the Mike Parr breakfast show. From 10am - 1pm there is Paul Wappatand Ian Robinson (with his penchant for wearing a kilt). The afternoon show from 1 - 4pm is presented by Julia Hankin. Julia's show has some of the biggest celebrities on her show, plus she covers items like health, fitness and entertainment. Julia does the 'Instrumental As Anything' quiz after 3pm which can be quite tricky! The drivetime show from 4 - 7pm is presented Monday - Thursday by Jon Harle Jon Harle and on a Friday by Martin Emmerson. The late night show (unnoffically called 'The Late Paddy MacDee Show') is presented by Paddy MacDee from 10pm - 1am. The Late Paddy MacDee Show replaced Northern Nights on BBC Radio Newcastle in the early summer of 2004. ...

Frequencies & Transmitters The Pontop Pike transmitter broadcasts the strongest signal on 95.4FM. This transmitter, one of the first in the country, provides Tyneside with national radio frequencies, terrestrial television, BBC DAB National and Digital One. The 96FM frequency from Chatton covers most of the populated areas of east Northumberland and the transmitter has national radio frequencies and television channels. The other two FM transmitters are much weaker. The Fenham transmitter, for west Newcastle and Gateshead situated close to the studios on Barrack Road, also broadcasts television, national radio, BBC DAB National, Digital One, the MXR North East 12C multiplex, 100-102 Century FM on 96.2, Metro Radio on 103 and Galaxy 105-106 on 105.6. The Newton transmitter also has television channels, national radio, 100-102 Century FM on 96.4, Metro Radio on 103.2, and Galaxy 105-106 on 105.8. The DAB signal comes mainly from Burnhope (near Consett), and also Fenham (lower power) on the EMAP Digital Tyne & Wear 11C multiplex.
