Changes for 2007

  • In October 2005 Alan Gow announced that the 2007 championship will be contested by cars complying with the FIA's Super 2000 specification regulations.
  • Cars built and raced to BTC-specification will still be permitted to compete, although will be ineligible for outright championship honours.

Prospective entries

  • Kartworld Racing and Jason Hughes plan to return in 2007, possibly with a pair of Super 2000 specification cars.[23]. The team are due to announce their program within the next few weeks.[24] As of 8th February 2007 it is now believed more likely that Hughes will return in a BTC-Touring spec MG before upgrading to Super 2000 in 2008.
  • Xero Competition intend to enter their pair of improved Lexus IS200s. Mark Jones is tipped to rejoin the team[25] and both he and former 24 Hours of Le Mans class winner Thomas Erdos recently tested one of the cars. Dave Beecroft confirmed that the team were also in discussion with Fiona Leggate[26].
  • Eoin Murray is working on a return to the championship for 2007 with his Alfa Romeo 156 run by Quest Racing.[27]
  • Adam Jones is said he is close to a deal to run in the championship this year. He says he has sorted out car, believed to be a Seat Toledo from GR Asia, a team and some sponsorship and just needs to conclude one more deal.[28]
  • CWS Racing are looking at entering. Colin White might rent Dave Pinkney's Honda Integra for a couple of rounds while former team mate, Malcolm Klien has tested Richard Marsh's Peugeot 307.
