The BWI Airport Rail Station is a train station in Linthicum, Maryland located near the Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI). It is not located on the grounds of the airport itself; a free shuttle bus operates every 15_20 minutes between the station and the airport. Taxis also run between the station and the airport, as the buses are often crowded during morning and evening rush hours and peak travel hours.
Dedicated on October 23, 1980, it was the first train station in the United States specifically serving an airport. It should not be confused with the BWI Light Rail station, located on Pier E (the International Terminal).
The small station building, which houses a ticket office, waiting room, and a small concessions area, is dwarfed by the neighboring parking garage, filled by the many local commuters who ride the rails to work in Baltimore or Washington, DC.
