The Arab Socialist Rebirth Party (Hizb al Baath al'Arabi al Ishtiraki) is a political party in Yemen. At the last legislativeelections, 27 April 2003, the party won 0.7 % of the popular vote and 2 out of 301 seats. Due to the party's mixture of strong nationalism with socialism, some have labelled the Ba'th Party a fascist movement, though this definition is hotly disputed and the subject of much debate.
Other socialist parties accepting the basic orientation of the regime were permitted to operate again, and in 1973 the National Progressive Front was established as a coalition of the legal parties; the Ba'th remained firmly in control.
In Lebanon the party is led by Assem Qanso, a Shiite worker of Kurdish descent.
