The Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery, located in the western frontiers of Beijing's massive urban sprawl, was the final resting place of concubines and eunuchs for five centuries of imperial rule until converted to honor the elite of the Chinese Communist Party five decades ago.

Although the one-time head of party security was interred at the cemetery in 1975, when his protector passed away, Mao's much hated hatchet man was posthumously expelled from the party and his remains were removed from Babaoshan.
