Bacamarte is a Brazilian septet of Progressive Rock formed by Mario Neto (guitar/vocals), Sergio Villarim (keyboards), Delto Simas (bass), Marco Verrissimo (drums), Marcus Moura (flute/accordion), Mr. Paul (percussion) and Jane Dubloc (vocals). The band was created in the late seventies, but they could record an album only in 1983. This album was Depois do Fim, and featured a rich and symphonic music with skillful acoustic and electric guitars, varied keyboards (vintage synthesizers, strings, piano, organ) and a very nice flute which enlightens the compositions full of interest and detours. A few female vocal interventions complete to enrich this great work. The nine compositions (four instrumental) on this album sound warm and elaborate with many changing atmospheres. The album doesn't sound at all like music from 1983, because the songs were mostly composed in the late seventies. Depois do Fim was very successful in the progressive scene, especially in Europe and Japan. Nonetheless, the band departed in 1984. Nowadays, this album is regarded as a progressive masterpiece, and is amongst the 60 best progressive albums of all times rank in the site Progarchives. In the year 1999, Mario Neto released a solo album, Sete Cidades, with the name of Bacamarte. It didn't have a good reception amongst progressive fans. |
