Synopsis

The Moyans witness the destruction of a ship, and rescue the two scientists traveling in it after D'Argo sees from their SOS communication that they are both Ilanic, a species closely allied and even genetically related to D'Argo's Luxan race. They are Verell and his assistant Matala, who are researching gravitational fluctuations and were heading to a rendezvous with another Ilanic ship--they are working on some kind of technology to fight their enemies, the Scorvians. D'Argo surprises everyone by pledging unquestioned aid to them, and is very attracted to Matala.

Crichton, after inspecting their ship, is zapped by some kind of strange energy and begins to have visions that at first take the form of disturbing, erotic, lifelike fantasies about Matala, and then turn to violent encounters with Matala in which she or D'Argo kills him. Meanwhile, Aeryn becomes suspicious of Matala and begins investigating her, and discovers she is a Scorvian spy. Crichton's visions persist, and he realizes he is seeing flashes of the immediate future--the strange energy he experienced is causing his consciousness to travel in time to potential futures, all of which end with the deaths of the Moyans. D'Argo reveals a dangerous, jealous side, but Crichton convinces the others that he is telling the truth by revealing to D'Argo something he learned in one of the futures he visited--that D'Argo was not imprisoned for his true crime, and that his true crime prevents him from returning to his people.

Using what he learned in the potential futures, John is able to avert the negative futures and save Moya from destruction by the weapon, which turns out to be a singularity. This article or section is in need of attention from an expert on the subject. ...
