The Bafours were the original inhabitants of Mauritania, and the ancestors to the Soninke tribe. They were primarly agriculturalist, and were stationary. Howerer, at the time they lived in Mauritania, it was far more fertile than it is today. They emigrated south to more fertile areas. Also called Sarakole, Seraculeh, or Serahuli, the Soninke are a Mandé people who descend from the Bafour, and are closely related to the Imraguen of Mauritania. ...
