A constrictor knot is a harsh bindingknot which is very difficult to undo.
Its relation to the clove hitch is similar to the anchor bend's relation to the round-turn-and-two-half-hitches.
Tied tightly with small-stuff, it is used temporarily to bind the fibres of a rope or strand end together while splicing or when cutting to length and before whipping an end.
