Bakhtiyar Artayev (born March 14, 1983) is a Kazakhstaniboxer who competed in the welterweight (69 kg) category at the 2004 Summer Olympics and won the gold medal. In the final, Artayev beat Lorenzo Aragon Armenteros of Cuba with a score of 36-26. He was the Winner of the Val Barker Trophy for Outstanding Boxer at the 2004 Olympic Games. He won the bronze medal at the 2005 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Mianyang, China. Artayev, who had defeated double Olympic gold medallist Oleg Saitov of Russia in the semi-finals, won a 36-26 decision after a fierce contest.
His defeat means Cuba will leave the tournament with five golds, one more than their tally of four from each of the last two Games.
