Bakuryūha (爆流破, Known in the English dub as "Backlash Wave") is the name of a fictional attack from the InuYashamanga and anime series.
Tetsusaiga (properly romanized as Tessaiga), InuYasha's powerful demon blade, is capable of unleashing this powerful attack in which destructive whirlwinds are created that obliterate even the most powerful of enemies. This attack only works on enemies with massive yōki; in other words, it works only on yōkai. It works by overpowering an opponent's energy with a Kaze no Kizu (Wind Scar), and the subsequent reflection creates a massive backlash of the opponent's own yōki along with the added power of the Kaze no Kizu.
Inuyasha gained this powerful ability by slaying Ryūkossei with the Tetsusaiga, the yōkai that was not only sealed long ago by InuYasha's father but dealt him the fatal wound that ultimately lead to his death.
Bakuryuuha (Explosive-style-tear) - Bakuryuuha is Tetsusaiga's ougi, or ultimate techique.
The theory of this technique is, it is a very deadly attack which envelopes the enemy's youki in the Kaze no Kizu and then reverses the flow of the youki.
This now leaves us with a coiled up Kaze no Kizu and youki which turns into something like a tornado and this gets pushed back on the enemy, so the enemy is blasted by its own youki blast plus the power of the Tetsusaiga.
His basic attack is "Kaze no Kizu" and his ultimate attack is "Bakuryuuha".
Bakuryuuha isn't shown until the later episodes and it didn't air on TV yet, but it's a really cool attack.
When he mastered that technique, he could use Kaze no Kizu whenever you wanted, but in order to use it, his enemy would have to have a really strong battle aura.
