Baladites (or Valadites), from the Arabic baladiye, 'country' monks, are one of the two congregations (Pope Clement XIV sanctioned this separation in 1770) of St. Antony monks (the only other order being that of St. Isaias), alongside the Aleppians (monks of Aleppo, a city, antonym of baldiye, in present Syria), among the Levatine Catholic Maronite Church, which from the beginning has been specially a monastic Church.
