Career in Films
Early Days Referred by fans as Yuva Rathnaa in Telugu,Balakrishna was always his father's true heir from the childhood. He debuted as child artist at the young age of 14 through his home production Thaathamma kala that featured NT Rama Rao and Bhanumati in lead roles. His first foray into films thus gave him an excellent opportunity to work with and learn from two legendary personalities of Tollwyood. Though his passion towards movies was driving him strongly, his father's insistence on completing graduation kept him away from taking complete plunge into movies. He was acting on and off for nearly ten years mostly in movies made under home production. His performances as 'Abhimanyu' in Dana veera sura Karna (A classic block buster that portrays his father in triple role) and Annadammula Anubandham won him much deserved critical acclaim. While 'Abhimanyu' role in Dana Veera Sura Karna showcased his acting capabilities at a very young age,it also sent feelers to NTR fans about his upcoming big bang arrival and kept them on tenterhooks. Upon watching Balayya's performance in Annadammula Anubandham(a run away hit and remake of Dharmendra's Yadoon ki baarat). Legal Issues Balakrishna was accused of firing upon his longtime friend and producer Bellamkonda Suresh and an astrologer Satyanarayana Choudary at his Jubilee Hills residence on June 3, 2004 [1][2]. Reportedly, there was an argument regarding payments related to a film titled 'Laxminarasimha' on which Balakrishna and Suresh had earlier worked on together, leading to the firing[3]. Both Suresh and Choudary were wounded and were admitted to a hospital. Balakrishna too got himself admitted in Care Hospitals. He was arrested by the Hyderabad Police at the hospital on the early hours of June 6, 2004 on charges of firing upon Suresh and Choudary. As the revolver that was used in the firing incident was Balakrishna's wife Vasundhara's, she was also charged for allowing Balakrishna to use the revolver that was licensed to her. During the court proceedings for the case, the Hyderabad Police's prime witnesses Suresh and Choudary turned hostile stating that it was not Balakrishna, but someone else who fired at them. The prosecution alleged that Suresh and Choudary had earlier stated that it was Balakrishna who fired on them. Due to lack of evidence, the case against Balakrishna and Vasundhara was dropped[4]. All through this time, the fans of Balakrishna were rallying all over the state of Andhra Pradesh in his support. As he was acquitted, celebrations broke out among his fans all over the state.
