In 1995, Balance of Power was started up by keyboardist Ivan Gunn. He put the band together with a handful of well-known London area rockers. Their first album, When the World Falls Down, was started in 1996 and was quickly picked up by the Japanese label "Pony Canyon". The album received significant airplay on the 11 largest metal syndicated shows in Japan.
