Ballinskelligs is a village in the south-west of the Uíbh Ráthach peninsula in County Kerry, Ireland. The name is an anglicised form of the Irish "Baile na Sceilge" meaning "Town/Townland of the Steep Rock/Crag". The crags in questions are Sceilg Mhór and Sceilg Mhichíl which lie off the coast of Uíbh Ráthach and are famous as the site of an ancient colony of monks.
