European settlement of the Balnarring area did not start until the 1840s, although a party led by Charles Grimes in 1803 were probably the first Europeans to visit the area.
Balnarring has its foundations in the Warrawee Homestead, originally the homestead of the Van Suylan family.
The beach was used for training and two anti-aircraft guns stood at the end of Tasman Street.
