Baltasar Carlos was the eldest son of King Philip IV of Spain and his first wife, Elisabeth of France. He was born 17th October 1629 in Madrid, and died 9th March 1646 in Zaragoza at the age of sixteen. He bore the title Prince of the Asturias.
